My Best Ever Hamburger Steak

With Caramelized Onions

Hamburger Steak

Serves 4

1 large egg
¼ cup Panko bread crumbs
1½ teaspoons Olde Westport Gold Coast Garlic Shake®
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pound 90% lean ground beef
1 tablespoon vegetable oil, divided
1½ cups thinly sliced onion
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1½ cups Swanson's® Beef Stock, or equal
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste

In a medium bowl, mix egg, bread crumbs, Olde Westport Gold Coast Garlic Shake®, and Worcestershire sauce. Add ground beef, mix, form into 4 balls and flatten into oval shaped patties. Heat 1 teaspoon vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the beef patties until nicely browned on both sides (about 4 minutes per side). Remove the beef patties to a plate, add remaining oil and onions, stir and cook until lightly browned (about 6 minutes). Sprinkle flour over the onions in the skillet. Stir flour, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you stir. Gradually stir in the beef stock. Season with salt, if desired. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover skillet, simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
